Drug Possession and Drug Defense Law

Florida law treats drug charges very seriously. If convicted of certain types of drug crimes, you can be sentenced to a minimum amount of time in prison, and you may lose your driver’s license. The most common drug offenses involve cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and amphetamines and include cultivation, distribution, manufacturing, possession, possession with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, prescription fraud, and trafficking.

Someone arrested by the local police can end up charged in Federal Court because of decisions made in private between State and Federal prosecutors. Such a person can sometimes get leniency by identifying others who are illegally possessing or selling drugs.
